History
— Before the formal establishment of TIS, Masters of Qur'an and Hadith Studies was offered at the Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages since 2009;
— Before the formal establishment of TIS, Bachelors of Qur'an and Hadith Studies was offered at the Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages since 2010;
— Before the formal establishment of TIS, Masters of Islamic Studies Pedagogy: Qur'an and Islamic Texts was offered at the Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages since 2011;
— Before the formal establishment of TIS, Masters of Islamic Studies Pedagogy: Theoretical Foundations of Islam at Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages since 2011;
— Before the formal establishment of TIS, PhD of Islamic Studies Pedagogy: Theoretical Foundations of Islam was offered at the Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages since 2011;
— Before the formal establishment of TIS, PhD of Islamic Studies Pedagogy: The Islamic Revolution was offered at the Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages since 2011;
— The Faculty was initially established in 2012 as "Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies";
— It started to enrol students in PhD Degree in Qur'an and Hadith Studies in 2013;
— TIS started to enrol students in Masters Degree in Jurisprudence and Fundamentals of Islamic Law since 2016;
— It started to enrol students in Masters Degree in Shi'a Studies: Sociology, Shi'a studies: History of Shiism, and Islamic Kalam since 2018;
— The Faculty moved to ATU's Central Campus (Dehkadeh-ye Olampik) in 2019.
The TIS Faculty has 5 departments, namely the Departments of

— Jurisprudence and Fundamentals of Islamic Law
— Qur'an and Hadith Studies
— Interdisciplinary Studies in the Holy Qur'an
To date, 11 degree programmes are offered in the Faculty. The programme names are briefly available in the following table.

Faculty Members
To date, 29 full-time faculty members are providing educational and research services to students at Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD levels. As of April 2021, 30 visiting lecturers are also providing part-time support to the teaching activities in the Faculty.
